Elephant with Chan Flower – Medium | Natural & White Velvet

The design of this box is based on ancient Khmer zoomorphic lime box. The main characteristics of the elephant are his strength and steadfastness. Therefore for Cambodian it is a symbol of physical and mental strength, as well as responsibility and earthiness. He is considered as the guardian of the home and must always be so placed in a room that its head is facing the door. The box is made from two plates thrown on the potter wheel. Pawns, head and tails are appliqué and chiseled during the drying of the box. The box is handmade and carved, making from it a unique piece. The finish is a natural vegetal lacquer appliqué by hand.
