Realization of a pot using Traditional Khmer Technique |
||||||||||||||||

Potter making their own tools from bamboo, tree branches and metal wire.
Potter use clay with ~20% of sand grog. To avoid sticking during handling, they use wood ash. The pot is made from one coil, fold up in two.
The coil is spread out as a sheet. Potter use ash to avoid sticking of the clay. Te work is carefully made; it is the setup of clay plates.

The sheet is roll as a tube and welded by hand pressing.
The potter turns around the pot to make the neck.
The potter hit the pot between a wood paddle (outside the pot) and a wood block (inside the pot); always turning around the pot.
The pot before firing. One more time the magic act…clay becomes a pot; even without potter wheel!
