The design of this box is based on ancient Khmer zoomorphic lime box. The main characteristics of the elephant are his strength and steadfastness. Therefore for Cambodian it is a symbol of physical and mental strength, as well as responsibility and earthiness. He his considered as the guardian of the home and must always be so placed in a room that its head is facing the door. The box is made from two plates thrown on the potter wheel. Pawns, head and tails are appliqué and chiseled during the drying of the box. Each box is hand made and carved, making from it a unique piece. The glaze is a wood ash glaze, fruit of our researches regarding ancient Khmer glazes. Height: 13.5 cm; Weight: 450gr.
